How to Make Chicken Biryani

  1. Wash the basmati rice thoroughly and soak it in water for about 20–30 minutes.
  2. Marinate the chicken with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, biryani masala, green chillies and salt. Mix well and allow the chicken to absorb the flavours.
  3. Heat cooking oil in a large pot and fry the sliced onions until they become light golden in colour.
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
  5. Add the marinated chicken and cook it with the onion and tomato mixture until the chicken is partially cooked and the spices are well combined.
  6. In another pot, cook the soaked basmati rice until it is partially cooked. Drain the excess water carefully.
  7. Layer the partially cooked basmati rice over the chicken mixture.
  8. Sprinkle fresh coriander over the rice and cover the pot tightly with a lid.
  9. Cook the biryani on low heat until the chicken is fully cooked and the rice becomes soft and fluffy.
  10. Gently mix the biryani, serve hot and enjoy it with your family or friends.
